Wallet Onboarding
ChessVS items — your cards, your Battle Board — are things you genuinely own. To make ownership real, each account has a wallet. This page explains what that means in plain language.
A wallet is just your account's secure locker for game items. ChessVS sets it up for you and protects it with your normal login. You can play the entire game without ever thinking about it.
What a wallet actually is
A wallet is a secure account on the Base network that holds your digital items and proves they belong to you. In ChessVS it holds:
- Your Battle Cards and Gambit Cards
- Your Battle Board (your collectible board)
- Your in-game balances of FOCUS and CVS
Because these are recorded on a public network rather than only on a company server, your items are genuinely yours — ChessVS cannot quietly take them away, and you can trade them.
Why you don't have to manage it
When you sign up with email or Google/Apple, ChessVS uses an embedded wallet provider. In practice this means:
- The wallet is created automatically at signup
- It is secured by your normal login — no seed phrase to write down
- You approve in-game actions with a tap, not a confusing popup
- If you lose your password, you recover the account the normal way
For the vast majority of players, the wallet is invisible. You log in, you play, you collect. Done.
For players who already use crypto
If you already have your own wallet (for example, a self-custodied wallet you control), you can connect it instead of using the embedded one. This is entirely optional and aimed at experienced users who want to custody their own items.
Either way, ChessVS runs on Base, a fast, low-cost network. In-game actions cost only tiny network fees, and ChessVS covers or minimises those for normal play.
Topping up
Most of what you do in ChessVS uses FOCUS, the in-game currency you earn by playing — winning matches, completing quests, solving puzzles. You do not need to buy anything to earn FOCUS.
If you choose to buy cards or boards, you can pay with a standard card payment or with crypto. The checkout handles the conversion; you see a normal price.
Staying safe
A few habits keep your account secure:
- Never share your password or recovery details. ChessVS staff will never ask for them.
- Ignore "free airdrop" DMs. If someone messages you a link promising free CVS or cards, it is a scam.
- Only trade through the official ChessVS marketplace. Off-platform "deals" are how people get robbed.
- Bookmark chessvs.club and only log in from there.
ChessVS will never DM you first asking you to "verify your wallet" or "claim a reward." Anyone doing so is impersonating us. When in doubt, ask in the official Discord.
